Highlands Ability Battery |
Natural abilities are important to consider when making educational, career and life decisions. Unlike skills, which are learned through training, practice and experience, abilities are the way a person is “hard wired.” Natural abilities influence:
- the environment that feels most comfortable to you
- how you learn new information most easily
- how you solve problems and make decision most efficiently
- how you communicate with others most effectively
The Highlands Ability Battery is a state-of-the-art on-line assessment tool, based on the work of research scientist Johnson O’Connor. Nineteen different timed work samples measure the speed with which a person is able to perform a particular series of tasks, objectively measuring innate abilities. The Battery is different from traditional self-assessment tools that rely on self-reporting or external assessments; it does not measure skills or knowledges, which are learned. Instead, it is an objective measure of a person’s natural ability to perform defined hands-on tasks.
The scores, shown together on a personal profile and bar chart, reveal patterns or “clusters” of abilities. Kathleen provides a skilled analysis of the scores enabling participants to understand the patterns in order to identify career/life goals that best utilize these talents and create action plans to achieve them. | | Professionals can use this self-management tool to:
